愛を測る（∞ + 1 ≦ Love）

お気に入りの数学サイト「Math Dude」も今年の2月13日の回までたどり着いた。去年の11月から第一回目から読み始めたが、そろそろ追いつきそうだ。

今回の記事は、2月13日ということで「Valentine’s Day Math」、いつもの各計算も楽しかったが、なんといっても冒頭の「ポエム」が素晴らしい。これまで数学に関する本を読んできたが、一流の数学者や理数系の人は、とてもセンスが良いと感じている。時に「ロマンチック」な人たちを想像してしまう。本当に優れた人たちて、そういうものかもしれない。

そんな Math Dude がバレンタインに贈るポエムを紹介する。私の稚拙な訳を併記したが、ギターでメロディを付ける際には、もっと上手い訳にしますよ。今回は、原文優先で楽しんで下さい。注意：最後のパートだけは不明点があったので、訳は保留にしてます。分かり次第書きます。

Violets are blue

All of the sand grains on all of the Earth

Are too few to enumerate how much I love you.

詩で取り上げられた数は、概ね求めることができます。

　地球上の砂の粒の数：10²⁴
　宇宙の星の数：10²³
　地球上の原子の数：10⁵⁰

計算方法は本編を読んで頂くとして割愛。とはいえ、これも「確率の Outside or Inside the Head」で述べた「Inside the Head」の例。
