Hummingbird featured in OITNB

この半年で最も心に響いた曲となった。



この曲は、先週末から公開された Orange is The New Black のシーズン3の第1話「Mother's Day」のエンドクレジットの曲。このドラマのエンディング曲は、ドラマを反映したような選曲で毎回違う。

この「Hummingbird」は、聞いた瞬間から釘付けになった。ドラマの余韻もあって、その歌詞と歌声、シンプルなウクレレの音がとても心に響いた。

Miss E とクレジットされているが、少し調べれば Eliza Noxon と分かる。そして、Orange is The New Black の製作者 Jenji Kohan の娘さん、とのこと。

この "Hummingbird" を聞きながら思い出すのは、映画 "Moenyboall" の "The Show" by Lanka、映画 "her" の "The Moon Song"。これらに共通する点は色々あるが、野暮な話なので割愛。

KCRWの情報から、この曲は12歳の頃に作ったものらしい。12歳でこんな詩が書けるなんて信じられない、母譲りの才能なのだろう。将来、彼女のフルアルバムが聞きたいものです。

ウクレレオーケストラでのライブ演奏の姿が Jenji Kohan に重なる。
